Overview

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, you can accept contactless payments directly in the TicketApp. No additional card reader is required. Supported payment methods include physical debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone, you can accept different contactless payment methods.

Requirements

  • You are using a supported iPhone.
  • Tap to Pay is enabled in the SumUp configuration.
  • The payment method Card payment is available in the TicketApp.
  • Bluetooth and location services are enabled on the iPhone.
  • The iPhone is protected with a device passcode.

Processing a Payment

  • Open the payment app on your iPhone.
  • Enter the amount and select Tap to Pay.
  • Present your iPhone to the customer.
  • The customer places their card or device over the contactless symbol.
  • Wait for the Done checkmark to complete the transaction.

Apple Pay and Digital Wallets

Accepting Apple Pay and other digital wallets works in a similar way to accepting physical cards:

  1. Open the payment app and enter the amount.
  2. Select Tap to Pay.
  3. Present your iPhone to the customer.
  4. The customer holds their device close to your iPhone.
  5. The transaction is complete when the Done checkmark appears.

Operational Notes

  • Tap to Pay works only on supported iPhones, not on iPads.
  • Perform a test payment after setup.
  • If Tap to Pay is not available, first check the SumUp activation, device passcode, location services, and app permissions.
